When the sales for ‘Slammed’ skyrocketed, it had a significant impact on the author’s existence. ![]() The success of her debut novel caught Hoover off guard because she had primarily written it for fun. Her big break came when a major blogger reviewed ‘Slammed’, giving it the attention it needed to become a New York Times Bestseller. Hoover had no idea what to expect from the novel. She incorporated the lyrics into the book. She got the inspiration for the story from a song called ‘Head Full of Doubt’ by the Avett Brothers. Hoover spent a few years doing social work before she decided to dedicate her time to her publishing goals. The author attended Saltillo High School and Texas A&M Commerce from where she got her social work degree. Hoover was born in 1979 in Sulphur Springs, Texas but she spent her childhood in Saltillo, also Texas. ![]()
